"The Classic Big Band and the Nostalgics Quartet will present [presented] the final concert in the Coon Rapids Arts Commission's pie and coffee community concert series. The performance is sponsored by the Coon Rapids Lions Club.

The Classic Big Band comprises 17 seasoned, professional musicians. Together with the Nostalgics Vocal Quartet, the band performs a variety of big band dance music concentrating on original arrangements of name bands from the swing era, according to Dan Odegaard, leader.

'Many of these tunes featured vocal groups in close harmony such as the Modernaires or Pied Pipers, where the vocal group became an integral part of the band,' he said. The group plays a variety of dance styles besides swing, including samba, cha-cha, rhumba, waltz and tango. In addition it can perform a 1940s era hit parade show or a USO show."
